1961 Democratic Republic of the Congo 1st Anniversary of Independence

The Belgian Congo gained independence from Belgium on 30 June 1960 to become the Republic of the Congo, also known as Congo-Léopoldville, to distinguish it from the neighboring country of the same name, also known as Congo-Brazzaville. The name was changed to the Democratic Republic of the Congo in 1964.
