1947 Ethiopia 2nd Death Anniversary of Franklin D Roosevelt

Franklin Delano Roosevelt (FDR, 1882–1945) was the 32nd president of the United States from 1933 until his death in 1945. He is the longest-serving US president, and the only one to have served more than two terms. His first two terms were centered on combating the Great Depression, while his third and fourth saw him shift his focus to America’s involvement in World War II.

Haile Selassie, Emperor of Ethiopia, and FDR met in person once—on 18 February 1945, aboard the USS Quincy in the Great Bitter Lake in the Suez Canal, following the Yalta Conference near the end of World War II. The meeting helped to establish early US-Ethiopian diplomatic ties, with the US later establishing a military communications base in Asmara and supporting Ethiopian development projects during the Cold War era.
