1981 Agricultural Wealth of Mozambique

Stamps showing the crops grown in Mozambique during the civil war period (1977–1992). Unfortunately, in 1981, the agricultural sector in Mozambique was stagnant, with gross production increasing by only 8.8% between 1977 and 1981. While production of export crops like tea, cotton, and citrus saw increases, there were significant shortfalls in cereals, vegetables, and oilseeds. This led to a decline in per capita food production, despite significant investment in the sector, which employed over 70% of the population.
