Commemorating the 150th anniversary of the death of Joseph Haydn, and the 200th anniversary of the birth of Friedrich Schiller.
Franz Joseph Haydn (1732–1809) was an Austrian composer of the classical period and was instrumental in the development of chamber music such as the string quartet and piano trio. His contributions to musical form have led him to be called “Father of the Symphony” and “Father of the String quartet.”
Johann Christoph Friedrich von Schiller (1759–1805) was a German playwright, poet, philosopher and historian. He is considered by most Germans to be Germany’s most important classical playwright.
