First CEPT Official Issue
1960 was the first official Europa CEPT issue and 20 countries issued a total of 36 stamps, more than double the number of the 1959 issue. Eleven new countries issued their first Europa stamp: Denmark, Finland, Great Britain, Greece, Iceland, Ireland, Liechtenstein, Norway, Portugal, Spain, and Sweden. The common design is a Roman mail coach wheel with 19 spokes, one for each of the 19 members, designed by the Finnish artist, Pentti Rahikainen (1929–). The CEPT logo was designed by British graphic designer Michael Goaman (1921–2009).
