1963 African Postal Union

Formed on 8 September 1961, in Antananarivo (French: Tana­narive) in Madagascar, under the name African and Malagasy Postal and Telecommunications Union (Union Africaine et Mal­gache des Postes et des Télécommunications, UAMPT), as part of the then African and Malagasy Union.

Airmail stamps issued on 8 September 1963. Design by Pierre Béquet (1932–2012), printed in photogravure by Imprimerie Delrieu in Paris. Design features envelopes, an aircraft, and radio masts. Perforation comb 12½.
