The former Nyasaland Protectorate, Malawi obtained independence from the United Kingdom in July 64. Here are the first Christmas stamps issued after independence, featuring a “Star and Earth” design by Victor Whiteley (1922–2002), printed by Harrison & Sons Ltd., and issued 1 December 1964.
