1972 Europa

The common design was the aurora borealis made up of 14 small stars representing an allegory of communication, designed by Paavo Huovinen of Finland. Spanish post in Andorra issued their first Europa stamp. Most stamps were issued in late April or early May. France and Spain issued one stamp of their own design, featuring the Cathedral of Aachen in Germany with the CEPT logo, and a tower of little men, respectively. Monaco’s issue also featured the CEPT logo.
