This issue linked the contemporary victory over the 1956 Anglo-French-Israeli invasion (the Suez Crisis) with a long historical narrative of foreign aggression repelled on Egyptian or broader Middle Eastern soil. By selecting battles and figures spanning more than two millennia—from ancient pharaonic victories to medieval triumphs against Crusaders and Mongols—the issue framed Egypt as a continuous defender of its homeland and the wider Arab world. Culturally, the stamps reinforced rising Arab nationalism, celebrated resistance to imperial powers, and positioned modern Egypt under Nasser as heir to an ancient lineage of leadership and military resilience. This fusion of ancient, medieval, and modern history created a powerful visual message of national pride, unity, and anti-colonial identity in the post-Suez era. Issued 26 July 1957
