The Joy of Acquiring a Missing Stamp, Part II

Following up from my last post, sometimes the missing stamp has a very high catalog value due to scarcity, and it’s beyond my budget at the time. But again, every so often, I check for this missing stamps, and sometime I find it for a “reasonable” price! This is the case with this stamp, a 50 avo stamp from the Portuguese colony of Timor, now part of the country of Timor Leste, issued in 1939 to commemorate the New York World’s Fair of that year. This was a 26 July 1938 issue, overprinted in black with the Trylon and Perisphere, the unique landmarks from that event. Now I only have to find the Macau issue, at a “reasonable” price, to complete the set!
