The Joy of Finding a Missing Stamp, Part III

Some stamps are rare and “unobtanium.” Some are rare, available to buy, and expensive, e.g., a Great Britain 1840 tuppenny blue. And some are not particularly valuable and yet almost impossible to find for sale. Such was the Dominican Republic 5 peso stamp, featuring baseball, that I needed to complete my 1999 Pan American Games collection. The other of the issued pair, the 6 peso stamp featuring weightlifting seemed to be everywhere, but not the 5 peso issue. And then finally I found a dealer that I had used before had it! In Singapore, no less! And so it is now in my collection alongside its 6 peso cousin.
